Apprenticeship: Data Analyst Level 4

  • Job title: Careers Data Insights Manager
  • Judge Business School
  • Training provider: Firebrand

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

I became Careers Data Insights Manager after my department restructured. I had an interest in data but no formal training in the area. I wanted more knowledge and skills to take more initiative in the role.

What was your experience of the apprenticeship and your training provider?

The apprenticeship was tough but worthwhile. Studying while working full-time was tiring, but the results were worth it. Firebrand supported me throughout and I enjoyed the residential training course.

What went well?

I had a brilliant in-work mentor and a supportive mentor with subject matter experts at Firebrand. Regular meetings with them helped me keep on top of things. I felt very well prepared for the course assessments. I also enjoyed meeting other participants and expanding my data analysis network.

What have you learnt?

I learned to work with data more efficiently, present data to stakeholders, use different coding languages, and understand data security better.

What next?

I am now working on more complex data projects and look forward to continuing this.

"Completing my apprenticeship gave me so much confidence in myself and my work. I now have the skills to make a bigger impact in my team and am becoming a subject matter expert. The apprenticeship allowed me to network within the University and beyond, meeting like-minded people. Although studying while working full-time was tough, I'm glad I did it."
