In maintenance you can always learn more.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I chose the building maintenance operative course to help widen my skill set and to give me the qualifications.

What was your experience of the apprenticeship and training provider?

When I staryted I was a little nervous as I was older then the students and even some teachers, but after the first day that was all forgotten and I really enjoyed it. My first part of the course was brick laying which was my favourite part of the course, we started with the basics and ended up with being able to build a wall and replace bricks and many other things. We had different teachers for each off the subjects in which they all had good knowledge in their field, I found them to be very good and hands on with showing us the correct way how to do the tasks at hand.

What went well?

The brick laying and the plastering, as I got a distinction in both and I found plastering to help in my day to day job.

What did you learn?

Basic brick laying, plastering and how to make a gate and a few other topics.  I also did my English and maths.

What next?

Hopefully to go on and be a Maintenance Operative and maybe a few more courses to keep improving my skill set.
